{"id":5076,"date":"2018-06-08T14:50:05","date_gmt":"2018-06-08T12:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ortomuseobot.sma.unipi.it\/collection\/"},"modified":"2022-03-21T13:10:13","modified_gmt":"2022-03-21T12:10:13","slug":"collection","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ortomuseobot.sma.unipi.it\/en\/collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ancient camellias<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in the Cedar Garden, consisting of 30 plants of historical interest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arboretum<\/strong> \u2013 It is located across the New Garden and the Del Gratta Garden, it is home to tree species belonging to various systematic groups, including interesting conifers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bamboo groves<\/strong> \u2013 They are located in the Cedar Garden (<em>Phyllostachys edulis<\/em>) and the New Garden (<em>P. edulis<\/em> e <em>P. nigra<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Geophytes<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 It is located in the Botanical School and brings together 200 species organized with geographical criteria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Systematic collection<\/strong> \u2013 Representing the main nucleus of the Botanical School, it consists of 400 species arranged according to a systematic criterion in 48 flowerbeds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Idrofitorio<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in Piazzale Arcangeli, it is a collection of aquatic species typical of the Italian wetlands, in particular of northern Tuscany.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hydrangea<\/strong> \u2013 It is found in the Cedar Garden, consisting of 40 plants of different species and cultivars of the genus <em>Hydrangea<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edible wild plants<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in the Botanical School, it is made up of about 100 wild herbaceous species of the Tuscan territory traditionally used for food purposes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plants of the dunes<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in Piazzale Arcangeli, it is a reconstruction of a transect from the shoreline to the first backdune.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mediterranean plants<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in the Del Gratta Garden, it is a collection of plants typical of the Mediterranean climate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mountain plants<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in the Del Gratta Garden, is a collection that includes plants from mountain environments typical of the Apennines and the Apuan Alps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plants in research<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in the Botanical School and houses specimens used for various ex situ conservation projects, usually involving reintroduction into the natural environment or for systematic studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Medicinal plants<\/strong> \u2013 It occupies the entire extension of the Myrtle Garden and includes about 120 species, organized according to their use on the basis of the active ingredients contained in them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salvia<\/strong> \u2013 It is located in the Botanical School and brings together about 100 species of the genus <em>Salvia<\/em> from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Banana greenhouse<\/strong> \u2013 Made up of tropical species of food interest, arranged according to a geographical criterion. It is the oldest greenhouse in the Garden.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Succulents greenhouse<\/strong> \u2013 Dedicated exclusively to about 200 species of &#8220;succulent plants&#8221; from the various desert and pre-desert areas of the planet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tropical greenhouse<\/strong> \u2013 Composed of about 150 shrubs and trees from the tropical climate areas of the four continents, arranged according to geographical criteria.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Victoria<\/em> greenhouse<\/strong> \u2013 It hosts <em>Victoria cruziana<\/em>, a peculiar water lily from South America and other hydrophytes of tropical climates.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>Amborella<\/b><\/em><b>\u00a0mini-greenhouse<\/b> \u2013 It hosts the small shrub endemic to New Caledonia, a distant island in the Pacific Ocean. It is the only living species of an ancient evolutionary line of flowering plants, isolated from all the others.
